Activity 1
Create your own book cover for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. You need to include a front, back, inside flap 1, and inside flap 2. The cover needs to intrigue others to read the book along with a title, author, and artwork. The inside flap 1 needs to have at least 200 words to interest the reader. Inside flap 2 needs 200 words of your own opinion on the book. The back page needs reviews and or critiques from other authors. |

Superstitions play a role in the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Film a short, 3 minute video with another classmate interviewing at least three other people (1 adult) about superstitions. Some questions to consider could be; what are superstitions? Do you have any superstitions? What makes people superstitious? Presenting your short video to the class. |
Activity 3
Mark Twain grew up on the Mississippi River and incorporates many of his childhood experiences into his writing. One idea that comes up time and time again is the idea of boats, rafts, and ships. Mark Twain even trained to become a pilot on a steamboat. Create a model or detailed artistic interpretation of a steamboat. This can be two dimensional or three dimensional. Be as accurate as possible in making the steamboat look visually appealing. |
